## Overview

College Life is a global hub for international students and graduates across 66 countries, connecting foreign students, alumni and organisations. Its work platform helps young professionals find jobs.

College Life engaged us to build that platform, and to bring their marketing site onto ground their own team controls.

## Challenge

Two jobs for one client. The platform had to be a real product — its users are young professionals actively job-hunting, so it had to hold up under real use, not just demo well. Separately, their marketing site sat on WordPress, apart from the product and awkward to maintain alongside it.

## Approach

### The platform

We built the platform on Ruby on Rails, with Hotwire and Tailwind. Hotwire keeps the interface responsive without the weight of a separate single-page front end, so the product stays fast and stays maintainable as it grows. It was engineered as a durable product, not assembled to a deadline — which is why we still build on it with College Life today.

### One stack, marketing included

We then migrated their existing WordPress marketing site onto a custom Rails CMS we built for them. The marketing site and the product now run on the same stack, edited by College Life's own team — one thing to maintain instead of two.

## Outcome

The platform is live and in active use by young professionals looking for work, and the marketing site runs on the custom CMS. The engagement is ongoing: we continue to work closely with College Life on what their users need next.
